First-Pass EMC Compliance and 40% Component Reduction in a Legacy Avionics Power Board

Context

A Tier-1 aerospace programme faced a legacy avionics power distribution board that was reliable but obsolete. The design lacked EMC margin in modern RF environments, risked component obsolescence, and operated under strict DO-254 constraints with zero tolerance for redesign cycles.

Constraints

Shrinking EMC margin in modern RF environments, component obsolescence, strict DO-254 constraints, zero tolerance for redesign cycles. Failure at EMC stage would trigger programme-level delay and cost escalation.

Our Responsibility

Hian Technologies executed a ground-up redesign that preserved system intent while removing qualification risk: schematic rebuilt from first principles, lifecycle-secure component selection, EMC-driven PCB architecture and layout, SI/PI analysis to de-risk integration, DFM-ready release for manufacturing and certification.

Outcome

First-pass EMC compliance achieved, 40% reduction in component count, improved thermal behaviour, no re-spin required, ~6-month acceleration to qualification. Full thermal and test data available on request.

Facing obsolescence, EMC uncertainty, or a no-re-spin avionics redesign?

Hian Technologies delivers first-pass-focused engineering under certification constraints.

10× Noise Immunity Improvement and First-Attempt EMC Pass for a SIL2 Sensor Interface

Context

A high-precision SIL2 sensor interface operating in a high-EMI factory environment suffered from noise coupling affecting measurement integrity, EMC susceptibility, and tight form-factor and cost constraints. Left unresolved, these issues threatened safety compliance, reliability, and production scalability.

Constraints

Noise coupling affecting measurement integrity, EMC susceptibility, tight form-factor and cost constraints. Unstable measurements translate directly into downtime, safety exposure, and costly troubleshooting.

Our Responsibility

Hian Technologies redesigned the analogue signal chain for stability under real-world EMI: coupling-resilient analogue front-end architecture, low-noise environment-aware PCB layout, mechanically compatible shielding strategy, EMI-robust signal conditioning, coordinated EMC pre-compliance validation.

Outcome

10× improvement in noise immunity, first-attempt EMC pass, 15% BOM cost reduction, stable field operation in harsh industrial conditions. Field performance metrics available on request.

Is EMI compromising accuracy, safety, or certification readiness?

Hian Technologies provides safety-aligned analogue design engineered for first-pass success.
